About Us - Play it Forward

“Music by the River”:  The TSWS, Dubuque’s Community Band, helps in bolstering music education for all ages and abilities while building authentic relationships in the community.  Musicians are drawn from Iowa and the two bordering states of Illinois and Wisconsin. Our now, over one hundred players of all ages, volunteer their time and talent for summer concerts. Performances are at Dubuque’s Alliant Amphitheater/Star Brewery next to the majestic Mississippi River.

The purpose of the TSWS is to reaffirm American music, contribute to music education and culture, provide opportunities for musical expression, and facilitate growth and collaboration among musicians at intermediate to high levels of proficiency.

The TSWS provides free concerts to the Dubuque community and has a diverse musical program enjoyed by audiences and musicians alike. The TSWS is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Since it is entirely supported by sponsorships, donations, and fundraisers there is an opportunity at each concert to make a free will dondation. Players are not assessed any dues.
